We are looking for a Financial Accountant!!!
Financial Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role will involve collaborating with various departments to support financial planning and analysis activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Ledger Maintenance
Recording Transactions: Assist with the recording of daily financial transactions in the general ledger, ensuring all data is accurate and timely.
Account Reconciliation: Help reconcile accounts, including bank statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and petty cash. Ensure discrepancies are flagged and resolved.
2. Month-End and Year-End Support
Assist with Month-End Closing: Help prepare month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.
Prepare Reports: Assist in preparing basic financial reports (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) for management review during the month-end or year-end process.
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable
Manage Accounts Payable: Process invoices, track payments, and ensure that all liabilities are paid in a timely manner.
Manage Accounts Receivable: Assist with billing and collections, ensuring that outstanding payments from clients/customers are tracked and followed up on.
Ensure all debtors' accounts are paid on time.
Prepare payments and load them onto the bank for them to be released.
4. Bank Reconciliation
Perform Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank accounts to ensure that all transactions are recorded and match bank statements. Report discrepancies to senior accountants for further investigation.
Cash Management: Help track cash movements, ensuring proper documentation and recording of transactions.
6. Financial Data Entry
Data Entry into Accounting Systems: Input financial data into accounting software (Sage one and Chase) under the guidance of Group FD accountants. This may include journal entries, invoicing, payroll, or other financial transactions.
File and Maintain Documentation: Assist with organizing and filing financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and contracts.
7. Supporting Financial Reporting
Assist with Monthly and Quarterly Reports: Provide support in preparing financial reports by collecting data and assisting with basic analysis of financial performance.
Ad-hoc Reporting: Help produce basic ad-hoc financial reports as requested by management.
8. Internal Controls and Compliance
Ensure Adherence to Policies: Help ensure that the company's financial practices comply with internal control policies and relevant financial regulations.
Assist with Audits: Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation, records, and explanations for financial transactions.
9. Budgeting and Forecasting Support
Assist with Budget Preparation: Help senior accountants gather data for budget preparation by tracking expenses and income for different departments or functions.
Variance Analysis: Help with comparing actual performance against budgeted figures and report discrepancies to the senior team.
10. Collaboration and Communication
Communication with Other Departments: Support other departments by providing financial data and answering questions related to accounting processes, such as invoicing or payments.
Team Support: Provide administrative and operational support to senior financial staff, assisting in any other areas where required.
11. Training and Development
Learning and Development: As a junior role, you would also be expected to continue learning accounting principles, systems, and regulations. You may receive ongoing training to expand your knowledge and skill set in finance and accounting.
Mentoring: Often, junior accountants work under the supervision of a senior accountant or finance manager and will receive guidance on best practices and technical skills.

Minimum requirements:

Work experience
Full stack bookkeeper - Creditors , debtors , cashbook and balance sheet reconciliation
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Financial Accountant, preferably in a digital, media, or advertising agency.
Proven experience with project-based accounting and managing budgets in a creative environment.
Technical skills
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Quick Books, or Sage).
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and data modeling).
Familiarity with financial reporting standards and regulations in South Africa (IFRS/GAAP).
Understanding of VAT and payroll tax compliance in the South African context.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and client-facing interactions.
Industry knowledge
Familiarity with the financial operations of a digital agency, including project profitability tracking, campaign cost management, and client billing.
Understanding of media and production billing cycles is a plus.

Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Creative, Traffic, Account Management).
Additional Requirements
Knowledge of B-BBEE reporting requirements is advantageous.
Willingness to assist with broader operational finance tasks as required.
