Practice Plus is a medical billing and administration service provider offering a practice management and billing service to specialists.
The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing and collecting outstanding payments from patients, medical aids and other healthcare payers. The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships with clients /patients / practices, understand the billing process, and have excellent communication and negotiations skills. The Credit Controller will also need to be highly organised, detail orientated, and able to work well in a team and independently.

• Contact patients, medical aids, and other health care practitioners / payers (e.g. Workman’s Compensation) to follow up on outstanding payments.
• Investigate and resolve billing disputes and discrepancies.
• Review and analyse billing data to identify payment trends and issues.
• Collaborate with other teams within the company to ensure timely and accurate billing.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients / patients to ensure timely payments are received and to resolve any issues.
• Provide regular reports to management on outstanding payments and billing trends.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve the billing process and reduce outstanding payment.
• Keep abreast of changes in medical aid and healthcare payer regulations that may affect the billing process.
• Assist and complete payment allocations.
• Assist in Month End procedures and complete Month End’s when required to do so

Qualifications and skills:

• Matric pass preferably with Accounting and or Maths as a subject
• Qualification in accounting, finance or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years working experience in Credit Control, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of medical billing procedures and regulations in South Africa.
• Knowledge of medical aid schemes and healthcare payer regulations in South Africa
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Knowledge of billing software preferred.
• Ability to multitask and prioritise work efficiently.
