Job Purpose:The Civil Supervisor (Non-Process Building) will oversee and coordinate the construction activities for non-process building projects on the construction site. This role is essential to ensure that all civil works are completed in compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and within the established timelines and budget. The Civil Supervisor will lead a team of workers, manage subcontractors, and provide on-site leadership to ensure quality standards and project milestones are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Site Supervision:
    • Supervise and manage the day-to-day civil works related to non-process buildings such as office buildings, utility buildings, warehouses, and other infrastructure.
    • Monitor and coordinate work activities to ensure the project is progressing according to the construction schedule.
    • Enforce adherence to project specifications, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure the quality of all construction activities by conducting inspections and audits of completed works.
    • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and ensure that all works comply with relevant local and international building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage, mentor, and coordinate a team of construction workers, subcontractors, and other personnel involved in the non-process building construction.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to site workers to enhance productivity and minimize errors.
    • Resolve any site issues or conflicts among team members or contractors.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
    • Monitor safety performance on-site, conduct safety briefings, and address any hazardous conditions promptly.
    • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety protocols are being followed.
  • Material and Resource Management:
    • Coordinate the delivery of construction materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are available when required and that proper inventory control is maintained.
    • Supervise the usage of materials and ensure that they are used efficiently and stored safely.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily progress reports, labor hours, material usage, and any issues encountered.
    • Assist in preparing progress reports for the Site Manager and Project Manager.
    • Document non-conformities and help facilitate corrective actions.
  • Coordination and Communication:
    • Liaise with project engineers, architects, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination of construction activities.
    • Attend site meetings with the project team to discuss progress, challenges, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Project Monitoring:
    • Assist in monitoring project budgets, timelines, and schedules, identifying potential delays, cost overruns, or other risks, and proposing mitigation solutions.
  • Environmental Management:
    • Ensure that the construction site follows environmental best practices and regulations, particularly with waste disposal and pollution control.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
    • Certification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is an advantage.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in supervising civil works on construction sites, with a focus on non-process buildings.
    • Proven experience in managing construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of civil construction techniques, building materials, and safety standards.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
    • Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a dynamic environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
