Senior Research Technician at the Cancer Dormancy & Immunity Lab

The Cancer Dormancy & Immunity lab (https://correialab.com/) headed by Ana Luísa Correia is seeking a Senior Research Assistant to join the team on a project supported by a La Caixa Health Research Grant (Dyna Met, HR24-00648).
The overarching goal of this project, Dyna Met, is to uncover the composition and dynamics of organ-specific microenvironments that support or oppose breast cancer metastasis in two of the most common target sites, liver and bone, and leverage these insights into novel anti-metastatic therapeutic strategies.
The selected candidate is expected to support technical and administrative tasks on a day-to-day basis in direct support of Dyna Met. This role involves assisting with mouse-related work (including tumor and metastasis growth monitoring, surgical procedures and treatments), tissue processing into single cells and analysis by flow cytometry, and tissue processing for multiplexed immunostaining and spatial transcriptomics.

Dyna Met is financed as a consortium with Neta Erez’s group (Tel Aviv University, Israel; https://www.netaerezlab.sites.tau.ac.il/). The successful candidate will benefit from the synergistic expertise of the consortium and interaction with these two excellent groups doing pioneering research in metastasis.

Skills/Qualifications

• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise responsibilities are required.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently are required.
• Knowledge of cellular and molecular biology and the ability to apply this knowledge are required.
• A minimum of three years of laboratory experience is required.
• Prior experience with research animal handling and in vivo experimentation is highly encouraged or willingness to learn.
• Prior experience in performing research-based histology, and troubleshooting and optimizing histology protocols is a plus.

Specific Requirements

• Strong spoken and written competency in English.

National, Foreign or Stateless candidate(s) who hold a bachelor’s or integrated master’s degree in biological sciences and a scientific and professional curriculum that reveals a profile appropriate to the activity to be developed.
