Description

This position supports the development of geospatial data at the City.

Examples of Duties

  • Utilizes Autodesk, Esri, Cityworks and FME Safe software in the development and preparation of plans for Public Works and Utilities projects, including utilities, stormwater, roadway, sidewalk, and other projects.

  • Maintains and updates utilities, FEMA, land planning, zoning and other spatial data stored in GIS.

  • Scans, prints and files plans; maintains digital files; maintains plan index.

  • Produces civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other drawings associated with new or renovated construction including but not limited to utilities extensions, stormwater improvements and mechanical systems for utilities.

  • Produces illustrations and charts for publication and presentation.

  • Research records, collects data, and performs field work to verify engineering drawings, CAD, and GIS information.

  • Maintains accurate as-built drawing records for city utilities and public works improvements.

  • Reviews Autodesk files submitted for compliance with standards and submission requirements.

  • Maintains data in Autodesk drawings, Esri Enterprise Geodata Warehouse and Cityworks.

  • Performs related duties.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree or equivalent coursework from an accredited college or university in GIS, Geography, Information System Management or a closely related field with major course work in GIS; or equivalent academic credentials related to the field of GIS. A Bachelor's degree is desirable.

  • One to two years’ experience in designing, executing, or supporting complex geodatabases. Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), Auto CAD, Esri Arc GIS Desktop Professional (EADP), Python and HTML are highly desired.

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License - driving record must be acceptable to the City insurance program.

  • A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. GIS certification can be used to establish equivalency.

  • Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Esri Arc GIS Desktop Professional (EADP) certification preferred.

Guidelines include mapping guidelines, digital data submission guidelines, GIS workflow guides, Esri and Autodesk best practices for data maintenance and department and city policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • The work consists of varied CAD and GIS duties. The need for accuracy contributes to the complexity of the position.

  • The purpose of this position is to maintain the data to develop construction plans, maps and geospatial data supporting the needs of City staff and constituents. Successful performance contributes to the success of department construction projects and the accuracy of maps.

PTO Leave: Leave begins accruing immediately. The schedule varies slighter for Fire Fighters.

PTO begins accruing immediately. At the end of the year, any unused annual leave will roll over to the next year. Time will be accrued bi-weekly and shown on each paycheck.

RETIREMENT: General employees are fully vested after 10 years of employment. Employees can become partially vested at five (5) years of service. Partial vesting at five (5) years is 50%, six (6) years 60%, seven (7) years 70%, eight (8) years 80%, and nine (9) years 90%. General Employees are eligible for normal retirement upon the earlier of reaching age 55 and the completion of 10 years of credited service or reaching age 50 and the completion of 20 years of credited service. The amount of normal retirement benefit is based on your credited service and average final compensation. See General Employees’ Pension Plan Summary for more details.

(Blue Option LG Plan 03559 Spouse only $630/month; Child/Children $540/month; and Family $1,200/month) (Blue Option LG Plan HDHP Spouse only $508/month; Child/Children $244/month; and Family $767/month).

Spouse Dental Coverage only $34.85/month; Child/Children $49.31/month; Family Dental Coverage $87.48/month. Vision Coverage available: Employee only: $5.24/month; Spouse only $10.50/month; Child/Children $9.97/month; and Family $15.67/month). Both are covered by Humana. The City also offers a suite of Allstate Worksite products available for purchase.
