About the position

We are looking for a motivated and driven research engineer to join our team at the section of research, Department of Laboratory medicine at Rikshospitalet Oslo.
We are an international environment with 70 % international Ph D students and postdoctoral fellows and have excellent support network of core facilities and collaboration with several world leading international and national environments.
The focus of our team is to identify and characterize novel epigenetic and transcriptional dependencies in cancer with a particular emphasis on tumors of central nervous system especially glioblastoma. Recently, we have acquired funding to commercialize some of our findings and thereby, bring our discoveries closer to the clinic.

This is a limited term appointment with funding for this post expected to be available for a period of one-year, full time, earliest start from 1st January 2025 and depending on more successful funding, there is a possibility of extension. The candidate will work directly under the supervision of Dr. Deo Prakash Pandey (project leader).

Job descriptions/expectations

The success candidate will integrate into a dynamic team of young scientists working on identification and characterization of transcriptional dependencies in cancer. The work involves culturing patient derived cancer stem cells and perform various functional assays to characterize effect of small molecule inhibitors on the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. The candidate together with all other members of the lab will be involved in lab duties such as keeping track of the patient derived cells, stocks of antibodies and other reagents. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to participate actively in scientific discussions through regular group and section meetings and collaborate with other members of the research group.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a university degree.
Experience in experimental molecular cell biology (cell culture and standard molecular biology skills) in the field of cancer biology or stem cell biology. Experience with culturing neural stem cells and patient derived stem cells.
Knowledge of molecular biology and chromatin biochemistry methods including molecular cloning, western blotting and immune-precipitation/fluorescence will be an advantage.
Experience with making libraries for high-throughput sequencing.
It is extremely important that the candidate is well-organized and able to complete a task.
A good command of English is expected and some knowledge of Norwegian will help.
It is important that the candidate can fit into a team of young researchers.
