JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Logistics Officer to join our dynamic logistics team. The Senior Logistics Officer will play a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods, materials, and resources to support our business objectives. This individual will manage logistics processes, optimize supply chain efficiency, and lead a team to ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe delivery of products.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Logistics Management: Lead and coordinate the day-to-day logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution.
Supply Chain Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and reduce operational costs through process improvements, technology integration, and vendor management.
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor junior logistics staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Inventory Control: Oversee inventory levels and ensure timely and accurate stock control, minimizing discrepancies and optimizing warehouse space.
Vendor & Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers, suppliers, and transportation partners to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols in the movement, storage, and handling of goods.
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, inventory status, and transportation costs for management review. Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, and returns.
Problem Solving: Address logistics-related issues, such as delays, damages, or customer complaints, and implement corrective actions.
Budget Management: Assist in the preparation of logistics budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., procurement, sales, and production) to ensure seamless coordination and timely delivery of goods.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
· At least 5-7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management, with a proven track record of managing complex logistics functions. A master’s degree would be an added advantage.
· Certification in logistics or supply chain management.
· Project management experience.
· Strong knowledge of logistics software and systems, such as TMS (Transportation Management Systems), WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning).
· Experience in Nigeria logistics and customs regulations.
· In-depth understanding of supply chain processes, transportation methods, and inventory control.
· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
· Ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring high levels of performance and collaboration.
· Strong communication and negotiation skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
· Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
· Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and logistics-related software.
