Marine Fabricator / Welder

About the role:
In this role, you will be part of a small team of specialist welders, who are responsible for a range of activities associated with maintenance, repairs, and installations meeting the ANZCO code of compliance, with a strong focus on quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, organize and coordinate the designated work areas ensuring work is completed safely as part of your team.
- Oversee the repair quality to warrant all work carried out, as required, to agreed Engineering Standards or Classification requirements
- Assist with Investigations where requested, to determine the cause and recommend remedial actions
- Work from drawings and blueprints where relevant, otherwise assess the required work to determine suitable material, method and required operations to achieve required specifications
- Mark, shape, bend and fabricate aluminium, stainless steel and steel to make and repair marine engineering parts and structures
- Use tools, cutting machines and welding equipment.
- Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
- Examine welds for the width of bead, penetration, precision and strength/pressure testing
- Finish welds and products by cleaning, polishing, filing, grinding, chemical treatment (as appropriate)
- Comply with all requirements of the Titan Marine Safety, Health & Environmental manuals, and company procedures
- EITHER a Trade Certificate in a relevant engineering/welding discipline AS/NZS ISO 9606.1.2017 OR at least 3 years equivalent experience
- Preferably at least a further 2 years’ experience in a marine environment over and above the minimum qualification or work experience
- Driver’s license is preferable to be able to drive work vehicles on-site visits
- Must be able to work with aluminium, stainless steel and steel
- Must be proficient with all welding techniques for different applications (Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding.
- Great skills in numeracy, with adherence to health and safety procedures
- Understanding of all ISO requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player that can work to deadlines and show flexibility
- You must be comfortable working in confined spaces or have the ability to obtain confined space tickets.
- You must be physically fit enough to climb up onto a ship or boat.
- You must be able to pass a drugs test and security/police clearances required to work on naval vessels.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 – $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
