The Role & Team
Are you a qualified Optometrist who is naturally outgoing and want to make a difference outside of the clinical space?
We have a brand-new role in the Professional Recruitment department, where we would love you to use your university experience to make a difference in the careers of upcoming optometry graduates!
Based in New Zealand, out of our Support Office in Mairangi Bay, our new Graduate Recruitment Consultant NZ – Optometry will join Specsavers on a permanent basis & report into our Graduate Recruitment Manager who is based in our Support Office in Australia. You will be responsible for delivering a targeted number of graduate Optometrists through executing a recruitment campaign that positions Specsavers as the graduate destination of choice!
You will pull on your ability to connect and create meaningful partnerships, skillfully leveraging these to enhance talent planning, organise networking events and promote the Specsavers brand! Your day-to-day will see you flex up your organisation skills and ability to engage with various key stakeholders, both internally and externally. You may be managing the graduate recruitment process, co-ordinating clinical placements, or even hosting a webinar/attending university events.
At Specsavers, we believe in adopting a hybrid approach to support our people and the future of work. This role will involve travel to the Melbourne Support Office four times a year, as well as occasional regional travel around NZ.

What we are looking for
  • Our ideal candidate will be a fully qualified Optometrist, with at least 2-3 years experience.
  • High social confidence and influencing ability, able to develop strong working relationships with an assured and approachable presence.
  • Be resilient, driven and enjoy the challenge of working to tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to be a passionate advocate of delivering exellence in customer service to both candidates ad internal stakeholders.
  • Naturally process driven with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with public speaking is advantageous (or a comfortability in doing so).
  • Happy with occasional travel to our Melbourne Support Office, approx. 4x a year and attending evening/out of hours events.
  • Desirable: experience working for Specsavers and completion of the Graduate Program is highly advantageous.
