We are
The Radboud University Network on Migrant Inclusion (RUNOMI) is a network of more than 120 scholars working at different Radboud University faculties, who integrate Radboud University-wide knowledge from various disciplines to study the multifaceted phenomena of migration and migrant inclusion. RUNOMI activities focus on three domains related to migrant inclusion: economic inclusion, social inclusion, and migrant access to public services, healthcare and housing. RUNOMI has established a strong reputation as an internationally renowned hub of expertise on migrant inclusion issues. It has been successful in acquiring substantial funds to implement various large-scale innovation programmes in research, education and societal impact. RUNOMI is organisationally embedded as a ’Hot Spot’ in the Nijmegen School of Management. The network office is located in the Department of Geography, Spatial Planning and Environment (GPM).
Our living environment is constantly changing, and this creates societal challenges. The Department of Geography, Spatial Planning and Environment (GPM) focuses on the question of how individuals and society, whether nearby or far away, interact with their living environments. Geographers analyse the relationship between the activities of individuals, businesses and institutions and their spatial environments; spatial planners decide how to intervene in spatial developments; and environmental scientists mainly study the consequences for nature and the environment, and how we can attain sustainable societies. Considering they all explore the same themes from different perspectives and often work together professionally, they are all united in one department at Radboud University.
