Role Purpose:
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. We build engagement and trust for the UK through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people worldwide. The British Council in Hungary is focussed on English and primarily on Teaching and Examinations services. The teaching centre re-started in 2011 and is a ‘LITE’ model operating out of two, soon to be three partner premises. The operation has grown rapidly and has approximately 500 students per term. There is a well-established examinations business delivering approximately 7500 exams annually and there are a number of current initiatives and opportunities to develop EES (English for Education Systems) and SAL (Self Access Learning), Education & Society and Arts related work in Hungary based on our regional strategy. The Hungary operation has 15 employed staff.
Main accountabilities
Finance and HR administration:
· Contract management – maintaining an accurate central repository for contracts, undertaking periodic reviews and ensure that all contracts contain the mandatory British Council clauses on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Child Protection and Data Protection (to meet GDPR requirements).
· Overall management of personnel agenda including keeping up-to-date staff´s personnel files · Management of local personnel processes in My HR including onboarding and keeping all staff´s My HR data accurate.
· Liaison with Hungarian authorities as required (e.g. on site check of social security payment by Authorities)
· Co-ordination and monitoring the accounting, financial processes, working with finance staff based outside of Hungary and carry out local finance tasks.
· Assistance to relevant staff with local legal requirements at the beginning and end of contract .
· Leading on on procurement and administration including SAP procedures.
· Management of Citi banking.
· Management of internal requirements / Risk assement-management, Business Continuity Plan, preferred suppply register etc.
· Management of /working with CD Tax (staff registration, de-registration, sick leave reimbursement, Payroll provider as necessary and required.
Premises and equipment:
· Management of day to day running of the back office incl looking after equipments used daily.
· Liaison with landlord on facilities issues.
· Management and coordination of all premises (including embedded partner premises) in conjunction with Teaching Centre and Exams.
· Provision of local assistance to Cluster IT Manager and Global Service Desk.
· Carry out non-IT inventory according to British Council requirements, support Cluster IT Manager with completing IT inventory (physical check by Cluster IT Manager).
Programmes support:
· Support of the Programme Manager with administration of contracts and other documents related to the office programme implementation.
· Attend/contribute to and provide support with the organisation of training sessions, meetings and events as required.
· Carry out communication with Staff as requested by Country Director Hungary.
· Negotiation and finalizing contracts in Hungarian for approval by Country Director.
Counter Fraud
· Act as Counter-Fraud Focal point in country and provide additional support to EU region Counter-Fraud network as required.

- Comply fully with British Council Data Protection policies and standards. Comply with British Council values and Corporate Performance Management standards and procedures.
Role-Specific Knowledge and Experience:
Minimum/Essential:
- Organised, disciplined and methodical approach to work and be proactive, dynamic even under pressure.
- Ability to deal with changing procedures and to multitask with high accuracy.

- Facilities Management
- IT skills, Excel and word. General knowledge of Hungarian administration, systems, employment laws
Desirable:
- Previous experience in similar role. Experience with SAP

Very good written and spoken communication skills in English (C1) and Hungarian (C2)
