This role is based in Germany and as such all normal working days must be carried out in Germany.

• You’ll partner with the business and Risk function to identify, assess, and manage risks within Nat West Bank Europe (NWBE)’s risk framework, and oversee service outsourcing both internally and externally

What you'll do

As an Outsourcing Controls Manager, you’ll be maintaining a robust risk governance framework, contributing to relevant outsourcing risk and controls assessments to effectively manage and identify risk and controls. You’ll identify new and emerging outsourcing issues, as well as process and system improvements. As such, you’ll continually drive the effectiveness of the business controls against risk standards and work with the business to create action plans and recommendations to close findings.

You’ll be developing and delivering strong risk awareness across NWBE, contributing to the prioritisation, design, and implementation of the operational risk principles into the business along with maintaining robust outsourcing documentation and frameworks.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:

• Implementing and maintaining a robust governance framework that engages all relevant stakeholders for effective decision making and ensuring that all aspects of risk management are delivered
• Ensuring all outsourcing risks, issues, and underlying control processes are visible to stakeholders and agreed in line with overarching governance
• Managing the delivery and interpretation of outsourcing MI and reports, working collaboratively to develop action plans for the resolution of issues
• Strengthening the level of outsourcing ownership within NWBE, identifying and calling out areas of weakness and sharing best practice
• Supporting and guiding the business regarding internal and external requirements for outsourcing, and supporting the implementation of appropriate outsourcing management
• Assisting with the delivery of an effective outsourcing communication strategy and training

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll have knowledge of how regulatory, political, reputational, and environmental risk issues impact a complex financial service business. You’ll have experience of relevant outsourcing and third-party risk management as well as German legal policies and regulatory and statutory obligations.

You’ll have the ability to speak, write, and read fluently in both German and English with a good understanding of risk management principles and experience in performing the role of an outsourcing manager.

Furthermore, you’ll need:

• Good influencing and conflict resolution skills with the ability to view the impact of issues from a wider or macro perspective
• The ability to provide robust oversight and challenge, supporting and educating the business effectively while ensuring efficiency
• The ability to think creatively when resolving complex problems and identify alternatives where established procedures may not exist, ensuring consideration of customer outcome and shareholder protection
• The ability to think strategically, demonstrating thought leadership while being capable of translating concepts into effective processes within acceptable timeframes and budgets
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise at all levels including senior management
