YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee the company´s 1042 withholding tax process, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations
  • Lead the preparation and filing of form 1042, 1042-S, and related form including the validation of vendor and payment data.
  • Ensure accurate withholding and reporting based on applicable tax treaties and IRS thresholds.
  • Collaborate with finance, intercompany, S2P, Local, and treasury teams to ensure proper documentation and processes for withholding foreign tax.
  • Implement and maintain robust controls to mitigate risks associated with 1042 foreign withholding tax.
  • Manage the preparation, data gathering, inputs of federal, state direct taxes for company reporting on corporate income tax.
  • Coordinate with external partners to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting completion.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations, ensuring the company´s tax processes are compliant and optimized.
  • Analyze tax implications of business transactions and provide recommendations on process improvements, automatizations or changes.
  • Lead as the GBS liaison in tax audits related to the foreign withholding or direct tax and work with third parties and local.
  • Lead process improvements initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of tax reporting and compliance processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on the review of transaction data and if required correction process.
  • Overview, guidance and support on the data collection, consolidation, import and analysis for the preparation of federal 1042 and corporate reporting on the according periodicity.
  • Monitor legislative changes assess their impact on the company and provide guidance of adjustments required on processes or on current configurations.
  • Capacity to identify, explain, evaluate complex or misleading tax situations and implement mitigation plans and raise to stakeholders when required.
  • Develop and implement standardization and automation of tax of tax process.
  • Review and validation of previous reporting data and ensure a compliant correction process if required.
  • Overview on returns submission, and payment on time.
  • Manage and address tax notices and information requirement from tax authorities.
  • Review and validate tax accounting activities according to the activity split with the country, monitoring and clearing, and ensure the compliance with Bayer controls and policies.
  • Identify process improvement needs and align with Co E / GPO organization.
  • Manage and support continuous process improvements (cross-functional alignments, automation & data analytics), prepare, and conduct respective trainings.
  • Support tax teams for technical and/or process related questions.
  • Participation and leading role in cross department assignments within GBS for process related topics.
  • Distribute and coordinate tax requirements with other process areas.
  • GPO project support (e.g., transitions).
  • Monitor key process metrics that measure performance, Service Level Agreement (SLA) and benchmarks targets across GBS locations.
  • Use and train data analytics based on state-of-the-art technologies to analyze financial data to ensure data and tax compliance quality.
  • Manage knowledge by guiding, documenting, and training Bayer´s process, activity split, IT enabler, workflow, and control standards across GBS locations to ensure that all locations act consistently.
  • Manage tax tools and demands.


WHO YOU ARE

  • B/BS/MBA in Finance, Accounting, Law and/or Tax ideally combined with IT knowledge (or similar).
  • At least 5 years of work experience preferably in tax covering tax compliance / tax accounting for USA tax jurisdictions, foundational level of process and system knowledge in increasing automated digital world and complex system landscape.
  • Advanced English level both written and spoken.
  • Preferred professional experience on multinational companies and big four firms.
  • Experience in leading technical projects (processes, organization, and people).
  • Advanced level of technical accounting and financial reporting in a corporate environment.
  • Ability to become a tax reporting expert for GBS
  • Advanced ability to work through ambiguity.
  • Advanced level of capability to understand complexity of changes with respect to business and regulatory environment and to respond quickly.
  • Advanced level of capabilities to lead change, projects, and initiatives.
  • Advance capabilities in understanding, comprehension and researching tax laws, regulations and rulings with an application to business environment.
  • Data analysis: proficiency in Excel, Pivot tables, LOOKUP functions, experience in Macros would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with tax software tools e.g. Vertex, Avalara, One Source, SOVOS, DMA, 1099PRO
  • Knowledge of automation tools (Ei: Power BI, Knime, Phyton, VBA, Smart Automation, etc.) would be a plus.
  • Advanced level of capability to collaborate.
  • Advanced level of capability to translate digital technologies into processes.
  • Advanced level of capability to collaborate task/project oriented without geographical, organizational, or functional boarders.
  • Strong tax judgement and business knowledge or ability to quickly learn.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Very good analytical skills and the proactive attitude to drive process changes.
  • Customer oriented mind-set, change management capabilities and Team player.
  • Competence to grasp an overview of complex subjects and deduce operational activities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, and presentation skills and ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders.
