We are currently seeking a Storage and Backup Engineer to join our team in Heredia, Heredia (CR-H), Costa Rica (CR).

Position overview

Position's General Duties and Tasks:

Storage Management:

• Design, configure, deploy, and maintain SAN and NAS solutions.
• Monitor storage performance, utilization, and capacity planning.
• Implement and manage storage zoning, LUN provisioning, and volume management.
• Coordinate storage arrays from vendors such as Net App, Dell EMC, HPE, IBM, or Hitachi.
• Manage data backup and recovery processes, ensuring data integrity and security.

Infrastructure Support:

• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on SAN/NAS systems.
• Troubleshoot storage-related issues, including connectivity, performance, and data integrity.
• Provide technical support to resolve complex storage problems.
• Collaborate with IT teams to support databases, virtualization, and server environments.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for storage systems.

Performance and Optimization:

• Monitor and optimize storage performance to ensure high availability.
• Implement data duplication, compression, and other storage optimization techniques.
• Analyze and forecast storage growth to ensure appropriate capacity planning.
• Develop strategies for data archiving, tiering, and storage automation.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of storage configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Generate reports on storage utilization, performance metrics, and capacity trends.
• Prepare and present technical recommendations for storage upgrades and improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8-10 years of hands-on experience in SAN and NAS administration.
• Strong knowledge of storage protocols (i SCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB/CIFS).
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms from vendors like Net App, Dell EMC PMAX/Unity/VNX/Power Scale, HPE 3par, Pure, or Hitachi.
• Proficient in backup and disaster recovery technologies and strategies.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with storage solutions.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and how it relates to storage environments.
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex storage issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Industry certifications (e.g., Net App Certified Data Administrator, Dell EMC Proven Professional, HPE ASE Storage Solutions Integrator).
• Experience with cloud-based storage solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Python) for storage management.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
