About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Manager and Supervisor of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician identifies, disassembles, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, processes and distributes reusable supplies to the nursing units, clinics and departments. The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for providing sterile equipment and supplies to the Surgical Suite and is responsible for the reprocessing of flexible scopes within the Endoscopy and Operating Room Departments. Other job-related duties required.

All responsibilities are carried out in adherence to professional standards, manufacturer’s instructions and departmental policies and procedures. About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following
  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program required
  • Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Certification preferred
  • One (1) year experience in Medical Device Reprocessing
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and the sterilization process
  • Computer experience, medical terminology, microbiology, knowledge of infection control measures and practices
  • Ability to work with delicate instruments and to operate large equipment
  • Ability to communicate well with all user departments and work effectively as a team member
  • Demonstrate accountability, strong work ethic and attention to detail, good problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time assembling instruments, utensils and sets of instruments
  • Ability to withstand heavy instrument sets and to push/pull carts to and from units of approximately 30 pounds
  • Tolerance to pre-enzymes, detergents, disinfectants and stain removers in the decontamination process
  • Successful candidate is required to take and successfully pass a functional assessment to determine the physical capabilities to complete the physical job demands of the job
  • Successful candidates have the opportunity to take the course if hired, also training on the job if candidate is successful
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred


  • Where there are no applicants who have completed the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, consideration for a Medical Device Reprocessing in Training may be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or who commit to completing this program at their own expense within the first 14 months of employment (must submit proof of course enrollment within six weeks of being hired into the Medical Device Reprocessing in Training position).

$19.10 Hourly
