Position: Individuals and Societies (Humanities) Teacher Grade 6 & 7
Terms: Temporary, Full-Time for 8 weeks - Start date: February 13th, 2025
Reports to: Middle School Principals


Role Description:

Mulgrave is one of Canada’s leading independent co-educational pre-K – 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are now seeking applicants for the role of Humanities Teacher, to start on February 13, 2025.


Mulgrave’s Upper School inspires students to achieve their personal best by providing a rich and varied inquiry-based programme that develops students’ skills, promotes curiosity and love of learning, and prioritises well-being. Teaching and learning are based on the International Baccalaureate MYP & DP Programmes framework and philosophy, and enriched by opportunities for exploration in the arts, athletics, outdoor education, service, leadership, and more.



Job Summary:

A member of the Middle School Division this role will be responsible for teaching Individuals and Societies (Humanities). The appointed person will be a passionate, inspiring and a skilled teacher who will be well-qualified and experienced. This individual will also fulfill the role of being a Co-Teacher Advisor.

Position Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to the following:
  • Planning, teaching and assessing Individuals and Societies (Humanities) in the middle school
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Manage student behaviour in the classroom by modeling the values of the school and establishing effective classroom procedures
  • Perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
  • Be a collaborative, team-oriented participant in subject-specific, divisional and whole school meetings as well as parent meetings

  • Design, prepare and deliver learning activities that facilitate authentic engagement
  • Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • Use relevant technology to enhance instruction and learning
  • Design and implement a range of authentic formative and summative assessments, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting
  • Participate in faculty and parent meetings and special events
  • Model respectful and timely communication with students, colleagues and parents
  • Attend professional development workshops as required by the school
Required Qualifications:
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • All of the requirements and certifications to teach in BC.
  • Hold an age appropriate First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience teaching in a technology rich environment.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members, students, parents, and outside community agencies and partners.
  • Endorse and model the school’s mission and vision statement.


Preferred Experience and Qualities:
  • Ambition to develop your professional skills as an educator
  • Knowledge and understanding of International Baccalaureate programmes, especially the Middle Years and DP Programmes
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to use feedback to continuously improve your teaching practice
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $70,000.00 - $119,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
