IB MYP/DP Mandarin Teacher

The role includes teaching Mandarin in the IB Middle Years Programme (Grades 6-10) and IB Diploma Programme Chinese B (Grades 11-12). Additional responsibilities include serving as a homeroom Advisor and participating in the co-curricular programme based on the candidate's interests and experience Position Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the following: Teach IB MYP/DP Mandarin courses at a range of grade levels from 6-12 Contribute to curriculum planning and programme development as a member of the Mandarin subject team Demonstrate a deep understanding of and passion for Chinese culture and Mandarin language education Serve as Homeroom Advisor for a group of approximately 12 students Opportunities: In this role you will: Benefit from a low student-teacher ratio and a stimulating, well-resourced, technology-rich classroom environment. Provide opportunities to enrich learning through the exploration in the arts, athletics, outdoor education, service, leadership and more. Appropriately challenge students, allowing them to feel safe, seen and that they belong All Mulgrave teachers are expected to: Develop a classroom environment that builds positive relationships and fosters an ethic of care Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting Model respectful and timely communication with students, colleagues and parents Endorse the schools mission and values Required Qualifications: Must be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada Must meet or be willing to obtain all requirements to be certified to teach in British Columbia Native-level fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Mandarin to adolescents Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education or the equivalent Preferred Experience and Qualities: Knowledge and understanding of International Baccalaureate programmes and philosophy Experience teaching IB MYP or DP Language Acquisition or Language and Literature Involvement with the IB Educator Network as a Workshop Leader, Examiner, etc.
Demonstrated enthusiasm for connecting with students beyond the classroom, through athletics, co-curriculars, etc. Compensation: The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $86,000.00 - $119,000.00.
