The role at a glance:
Are you ready to launch your career in the dynamic world of human resources? As the Director’s Assistant, you’ll play a pivotal role by providing essential support to the Director, People & Culture while coordinating key administrative tasks and projects.
This role is perfect for someone starting their career in human resources and eager to learn and grow in the profession. You’ll work across the department, contribute to meaningful projects, and gain exposure to a wide range of People & Culture (P&C) functions, including EDI, Labour Relations, Organizational Development, Operations, and Talent. From managing administrative processes to collaborating on initiatives that contribute to an exceptional employee experience, you’ll develop key skills in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

What you’ll be up to:
As the heart of the P&C team, every day will bring new challenges and opportunities to shine! As the Director’s Assistant, you’ll be the go-to person for keeping things running smoothly and supporting exciting projects. Day-to-day, your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Be the communication hub: Handle inquiries like a pro, whether they come to you or the Director, People & Culture.
- Support the big picture: Help the People & Culture leaders juggle priorities and foster collaboration across departments.
- Organize like a boss: Keep the department in top shape by managing files, creating order in Teams and Share Point, and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
- Get in on the action: Assist with collective bargaining by prepping agendas, compiling materials, and taking meeting minutes that make a difference.
- Enhance the employee experience: Keep onboarding materials fresh, manage staff development processes, represent P&C on committees, and be the friendly face everyone turns to.
- Master the details: From planning meetings and events to taking OH&S committee minutes, managing supplies, and even stepping in for reception coverage, you’ll have your hands in all kinds of impactful tasks.
What you bring to the table:
- You’re a recent grad from a Human Resources certificate or diploma program, ready to dive into the field.
- You’ve got hands-on experience working in a People & Culture or Human Resources environment and are eager to build on it.
- New technologies excite you! You’re open to exploring AI, machine learning, and cloud-based HR systems to streamline workflows and drive innovation.
- You’re skilled with MS Office and quickly adapt to new tools and systems with ease.
- You are passionate about growing your career in the HR field and are eager to learn the ins and outs of all things HR.
- With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you naturally build strong relationships and fit seamlessly into new teams.
- You juggle priorities like a champ, staying organized and effortlessly pivoting between tasks to get the job done.
- You thrive in a role where you can work autonomously, handle sensitive matters with care and good judgment, and keep diverse stakeholders aligned.
- Experience in a post-secondary institution or public-sector organization? That’s a definite plus!
- If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire
This opening is a continuous, Exempt position. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check.
