We provide private pay services to residents in our beautiful communities, from independent living, through to end of life. We are the true alternative to a Long-Term Care facility – to that end we are NOT a medical institution we are the HOME to many seniors of many levels of ability.
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated leader to join our team as Activities Coordinator in our Symphony Orleans community. Symphony Orleans serves seniors who are independent as well as those needing assisted living. The Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our communities. The perfect candidate must demonstrate tenure in their previous positions and can highlight how they learned and succeeded in their past positions. We will teach you senior services, our systems and programs, but we cannot teach compassion and dedication - You will need to demonstrate you are hungry, humble and smart in the interview process.
Job Summary
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging and meaningful activities for residents. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for residents by promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation. The Activities Coordinator will work closely with staff, residents, and their families to create a vibrant community atmosphere that caters to the diverse needs of individuals, including those with disabilities and dementia.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the interests and needs of residents in assisted living home settings.
- Coordinate and oversee daily activities, ensuring they are conducted safely and effectively.
- Foster an environment that encourages resident participation and socialization through various recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities.
- Collaborate with caregiving staff to assess residents' individual needs and preferences for tailored activity planning.
- Communicate regularly with residents, families, and staff to gather feedback on programs and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
- Organize special events, outings, and celebrations to enhance community engagement.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in all activities.
- Experience in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices, particularly for individuals with disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to plan engaging activities that cater to a diverse population while promoting physical and mental well-being.
- Creative thinking skills to develop innovative programs that stimulate interest among residents.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Compassionate approach towards working with seniors, demonstrating patience and understanding.
- Organizational skills and ability to coordinate activities across disciplines (including Wellness, Sales, Dining, etc.)
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias and a desire to serve residents and families
- Ability to work within an environment that supports the goals and embraces the practices set forth in the Community
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Word. As well as social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
- Strong communication skills in English, verbal and written.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

- You must be able to work with dogs, cats and other animals
- Due to our high level of residents with dementia; your tattoos and piercings must either remained covered by clothing or are discrete. Any other external body decoration, including hair, must not be frightening to a frail senior with dementia.
- You must be legally allowed to work in Canada
- You must be in good physical health as this job requires lifting, sitting, standing and walking.
- Must have a valid Ontario drivers license.
- Must have or willing to obtain an F class Ontario drivers license.
- Must have availability to work weekends rotations
Pay: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
