Context

We believe that careful consideration of ESG factors in the credit analysis and credit worthiness evaluation of borrowers is essential since these factors have the potential to affect the cash flow generation capacity, the access to capital markets, the cost of debt financing and therefore the issuer’s credit quality and likelihood of default on its debt obligations.
Within our Buy-Side Credit research team, the ESG analysts act as the cornerstone of the integration of ESG factors into the credit analysis and bond selection. The Assistant ESG analyst will directly support ESG analysts in this process.

Your Position

The role of the ESG analyst within the Buy-Side Credit Research team is to support credit analysts in the integration of environmental, social and governance factors/information into the credit analysis process (company & sector assessment).

In practice, this covers a very wide range of activities such as providing ESG-related analysis and information to credit analysts and portfolio managers, performing analytical work including ESG scorecards, TCFD assessments, impact assessments and impact investment cases, waivers, due diligence notes and more. Additionally, ESG analysts regularly engage with external data providers and the companies being reviewed to clarify targets, discuss progress, and overall deepen their understanding of their ESG strategies.

The assistant ESG analyst’s role would be to support the ESG analyst in his/her daily tasks, including (but not limited to):
 Assessing the eligibility/fit of companies to be included in our sustainable impact funds (setting and monitoring of KPIs), and producing impact investment cases (description of global challenge, company fundamentals, strengths, sustainable solution and impact).
 Analyzing companies' sustainability strategies/progress by drafting ESG scorecards and updating outdated cases still present in portfolio.
 Contributing to ad hoc ESG analytical work such as TCFD assessments, waivers, due diligence notes, etc.

Your Profile

Ideal candidate would gather:
 Strong interests in ESG aspects/topics
 Understanding of basic sustainable finance/sustainability concepts (i.e., materiality, reporting frameworks/standards, regulation, …)
 Strong analytical skills and ability to assimilate a large amount of information and translate it into clear views (a critical and synthetic mind is key)
 Flexibility and autonomy in his/her way of working
 Eagerness to continuously learn and attention for detail
 Solid communication & presentation skills
 Team spirit with an entrepreneurial attitude and high ethical standards.
