Social Worker (Surgery)

Deliver high quality core social work clinical services as part of the multidisciplinary team to patients of Surgery specialities and the Intensive Care Unit, Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and to their families and carers, so as to optimise the psychosocial outcomes of their utilisation of health care services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver core clinical social work services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and AASW Professional Practice Standards by assessing psychosocial needs of clients, identifying clinical risk and providing clinical interventions to maximise psychosocial outcomes for clients.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with patients, their families/caregivers and external agencies as a member of multidisciplinary team in the hospital setting.
- Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of social work services, and therefore patient care, in the health care setting.
- Possess sound knowledge, skills and experience in working with domestic violence, child protection and grief and loss particularly in relation to psychosocial screening, risk assessment and safety planning in the context of acute surgical stream services.
- Other duties or caseloads may be allocated due to changing organisational and service delivery requirements.
