About the role:
In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the health and wellbeing of both inpatients and members of the broader community. Your work will contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care that addresses the unique needs of the local population, helping to build a healthier and more connected community.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and highly skilled palliative care team that includes a palliative care physician, registered nurse, social worker, occupational therapist, and a dedicated palliative care clinical nurse educator. This collaborative environment ensures that you have access to comprehensive expertise and guidance as you provide compassionate and high-quality care to patients and their families.
The successful candidate will work alongside another experienced palliative care registered nurse, allowing for shared responsibility and team-based patient care. The ongoing support from the palliative care clinical nurse educator further enhances professional development, providing you with the training and mentorship necessary to excel in this role.
Where you’ll be working:
Nestled in the heart of the New England High Country, Glen Innes is a captivating destination known for its rich history, Celtic heritage, and gourmet food experiences, all set against the backdrop of rolling green fields and world heritage-listed rainforest. Located approximately 365 km southwest of Brisbane and 618 km north of Sydney, Glen Innes offers both natural beauty and a strong sense of community.
Glen Innes Hospital is a 32-bed Level 3 rural facility that plays a crucial role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the local population of over 8,800 residents, including 6% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members. In this position, you will contribute to the care and support of both inpatients and community residents, fostering a strong connection between healthcare services and the wider community.
