Mater is looking for a Registered Nurse to join Catherine's House based at our South Brisbane campus. This is a permanent full-time position.
With one in five mums and up to one in ten fathers experiencing depression, anxiety and other mental health issues before or after the birth of a child, this new facility will triple the number of public beds in Queensland from 4 to 12 for families in need of perinatal mental health support.

Salary range: $41.47 - $53.30 (RN Level 1) per hour 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing
- Provide high standards of service delivery by ensuring clinical practice is contemporary, individualised, safe, recovery-focused and evidence based
- Provide contemporary mental health care to mothers or primary carers
- Utilise mental health nursing clinical skills within an integrated framework for mothers affected by acute and complex perinatal mental illness
- Provide mental health nursing care that takes into consideration the infant and the parent/primary caregiver-infant relationship. This may include access to needed medical, social, educational, vocational, psycho-social and other necessary services as they relate to the mother’s mental health needs, and their recovery
- AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (or Registered Midwife with clinical experience working in mental health) and a current annual practicing certificate
- The successful applicant has or is willing to work towards specialist mental health nursing and/or perinatal and infant mental health qualifications
- Are an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) in Queensland or you have worked primarily in a mental health setting for at least two (2) years, thereby enabling you to apply for recognition as an AMHP after completion of relevant training
- Are a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse with the ACMHN or you are willing to work towards same
- Experience in mental health nursing is essential
- Ability to work a rotating roster of 12-hour shifts including days, nights and weekends
