About the Role

We’re seeking a motivated and skilled Data and Automation Engineer to join our small, high-performing team at a transformative stage of growth. This role offers the opportunity to leverage your expertise in data analysis and automation to drive impactful technology initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders and internal teams to implement innovative solutions that enhance our operations and deliver outstanding results. Your contributions will make a tangible difference in shaping the technology roadmap and achieving strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Engineering and Analytics

• Assist in the review of systems architecture and recommending current and future data, integration and automation strategies.
• Assist with designing and implementing data warehouse solutions using dimensional data modelling, star schema, and snowflake methodologies. Ensure good data governance using the DAMA DMBOK functional framework.
• Create and maintain data collection, extraction, transformation and storage systems, including database systems such as SQL Server, My SQL and ETL tools.
• Assist with developing and maintaining a high-quality analytics dashboard using Tableau, Power BI, and SQL.
• Create and maintain documentation and technical specifications for projects, including the installation and configuration of each component of developed applications, system/data architecture, data modelling/design, data mapping, data lineage, data quality, data security, data warehousing and business intelligence.

Systems Integration

• Assist with developing and maintaining API/Integration between different systems, including Salesforce, Moodle, Power Pro RTO, Xero, Word Press, Active Campaign, and Zoho Desk using REST, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Power Platform, Azure Functions and Custom Connectors.
• Assist in creating and maintaining scripts/programs in Python, SQL, and Power Platform (DAX, Power Query, and MDX).

Process Analysis and Automation

• Assist in business analysis, process improvement, and workflow automation to improve business outcomes.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standards, processes, and procedures and monitor/audit systems, data, and documentation to identify business risks. Implement corrective action plans and improvements to resolve non-compliance with standards and business rules.
• Develop and maintain technical training guidance and training to upskill staff with our data/analytics systems and services, which support our operations.

Essential Requirements:

• Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in Data Engineering and Process Automation.
• Qualifications: Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, and Power Platform (DAX, Power Query, MDX).
  • Experience with process automation platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps).
  • Data engineering proficiency: pipeline design, warehouse modelling, and performance tuning.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis, anomaly detection, and data storytelling for non-technical audiences
  • Business analysis skills with the ability to scope, design, prioritise, and manage projects for new and efficient solutions, adapt to business requirements, and implement change management.
• Excellent analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and adaptability. Strong integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to understand and explain problems and solutions when collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.
