The Monster is an herbivore.
Canberra’s only refined vegetarian dining experience. Monster Kitchen and Bar, has a deep respect for locally sourced and seasonal ingredients landing an exciting set of fresh ideas with conscious consumption at the forefront. Monster Bar offers an elevated cocktail experience created with modern techniques using a selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables, ever-changing to highlight the season. Implementing our very own twist on the most iconic cocktails you’d only find in the best hotel bars around the world.
The Gig
As our Commis Chef you’ll be cooking up a storm, lovingly preparing each and every dish for our guests using locally sourced and seasonal produce. This is a Casual role and will require flexibility in your availability. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

The Gig
As our Commis Chef you’ll be cooking up a storm, lovingly preparing each and every dish for our guests using locally sourced and seasonal produce. This is a Casual role and will require flexibility in your availability. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Take control of the breakfast / lunch / dinner service and ensure guests receive a truly delicious and memorable experience
- Setting up and cleaning down the kitchen after service
- Ensure all stocks are kept under optimum conditions
- Ensure all mis-en-place is always freshly prepared and on time
- Ensure all dishes are being prepared to the correct recipe and to the correct quantity.
- Ensure the department is operated within the appropriate legislation and the appropriate records are maintained up-to-date
- Ensure any anticipated issues are communicated promptly to the Head Chef
- Ensure all staff under your control are treated fairly and with courtesy
- Ensuring and controlling levels of guest satisfaction, quality, operating and food costs on an ongoing basis
- Collect feedback from the guest and report to Executive chef on any complaints or issues
- Monitor that the production, preparation and presentation of food are of the highest quality at all times
- Personal grooming and appearance standards are met regarding cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene
- Assist with producing menus and new dishes
- Actively share ideas, opinions and suggestions in daily shift briefings
