The Local Health District
Murrumbidgee LHD covers almost 125,243km2. We provide public health services to approximately 243,228 people across the Riverina, Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and the South Western Slopes of NSW.
As the largest employer in the region, we have over 5000 healthcare staff working across 33 hospitals and 12 primary healthcare centres. We're supported by hundreds of volunteers who make an invaluable contribution to enriching the lives of people in our care.

Where you'll be working
Wagga Wagga Health Service provides services including critical care, medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, and rehabilitation care. We also provide mental health and community health services. We work with a team of specialists which include cardiovascular, gastroenterology, renal medicine, obstetrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry and paediatrics.
There is also the provision of a full range of allied health and support services such as oral health, physiotheraphy, occupational therapy, sexual health and violence prevention and response services.

What you'll be doing
The provision of senior clinical leadership for a term of 5 years for the department of Ophthalmology.
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital the Clinical Director will provide leadership in line with the MLHD core values and to provide expertise and advice to the Director of Medical Services with regard to clinical matters, planning and policy.
To maintain clinical governance framework for the medical workforce to ensure optimal care to patients of MLHD

Selection Criteria
  • Registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Ophthalmologist with a Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership skills including strong negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in innovative service planning and policy development
  • Experience in coordinating and building effective clinical teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health system funding and Activity Based Funding.
  • Ability to guide the department in quality improvement activities.
  • Experience in clinical research and an ability to promote research
  • Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
