The Senior Electrical Safety Inspector is a mobile, field-based position with inspectors located throughout the state.

These inspectors deliver the Electrical Safety Office's (ESO) statewide compliance and engagement program, respond to complaints and incidents, and collaborate with industry and others to improve capabilities to manage electrical safety risks.

Inspectors work across the entire breadth of the electrical industry, in the electrical equipment supply chain, in other high-risk industries (e.g. construction, agriculture, and manufacturing), and in non-workplace environments.

A current Queensland electrical work license is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret, apply and elementise legislation in a regulatory capacity.
Write reports of incidents and complaints.
Identify and enforce breaches of legislation.
Participate in the targeted auditing and engagement program to monitor and assess compliance with Electrical Safety legislation.
Investigate electrical incidents and complaints.
Provide technical advice to investigations teams.
Prepare and review disciplinary action referrals for the independent Electrical Licensing Committee.

About the Team:

The Electrical Safety Office (ESO) helps to keep people electrically safe at work and home.

We have a vision to prevent death, injury and destruction of property caused by electricity, and we work towards it by monitoring and enforcing compliance with electrical safety laws.

The ESO has six strategic goals:

Partnering with industry and community to achieve electrical safety outcomes.
Providing services that are easy to access and responsive to the needs of the industry and community.
Assisting industry to comply, whilst ensuring there are consequences for noncompliance.
Using a risk and evidence-based approach to design interventions and policy responses.
Providing electrical safety information, education, and targeted interventions.
Empowering a competent, confident, and collaborative team.

How to Apply:

Submit your resume and a short statement (no more than 2 pages) outlining your ability to undertake the responsibilities and requirements as outlined in the 'What we are looking for' section of the position description.
