Farm Manager - Layer Farm

We pride ourselves on innovation, efficiency, and a commitment to excellence. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Farm Manager to join our dynamic team.
Job Overview: The Farm Manager for the layer farm is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the egg production process, ensuring optimal animal welfare, productivity, and compliance with industry standards. This role includes managing staff, maintaining equipment, monitoring flock health, and implementing biosecurity measures. You will lead a team of workers, manage schedules, and work closely with other departments to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Management:
  • Oversee daily operations of the layer farm, including feeding, watering, and health management of hens.
  • Monitor egg production, quality, and consistency, making adjustments as needed.
  • Animal Welfare:
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and practices.
  • Regularly assess flock health and implement vaccination and treatment protocols.
  • Staff Management:
  • Supervise farm staff, providing training and support to ensure effective operation.
  • Schedule shifts and manage labour resources efficiently.
  • Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the farm budget, tracking expenses and income.
  • Analyze production costs and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Maintenance and Operations:
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are well-maintained and functioning properly.
  • Oversee the implementation of biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate records of production, health, and financial data.
  • Prepare reports for management and regulatory compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technology, and best practices.
  • Implement strategies for improving efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in layer farming or poultry management preferred.
  • Knowledge of animal health, biosecurity, and egg production systems.
  • Proficient in data analysis and record-keeping.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a farm environment, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Capability to lift and carry equipment or materials as needed.
