REPORTS TO: Director – Elementary Instructional Strategy
POSITION TYPE: 12-month

THE OPPORTUNITY
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:
Required Mindsets
- Committing, aligning, and positively promoting the vision and mission of YES Prep and the Teacher Development program to teachers, administrators, partners, and other team members
- Serving as an exemplary Instructional Leader by building content knowledge and expertise in the following: science of teaching reading, elementary instructional program, and YES Prep instructional strategy
- Daily travel to YES Prep campuses assigned to support
- Work in the field (on campuses) 75% of the work week
- Collaborating with local and state entities to become certified as a Reading Academies facilitator
- Designing a local implementation model for Texas Reading Academies
- Developing the scope and sequence for learning, coaching, and compliance at YES Prep
- Developing and maintaining systems to track teacher enrollment, participation, and completion of Reading Academies
- Grading and tracking completion of all participant assignments
- Maintaining expertise around state requirements and policies regarding the Science of Teaching Reading and Texas Reading Academies
Professional Learning
- Preparing, internalizing, and facilitating all professional learning modules as required by Texas Reading Academies
- Supporting preparation for the Science of Teaching Reading Content Exam
- Collaborating with the Teaching Excellence Team, Elementary Program Team, and YES Prep campus leadership to align content to organizational needs and previous learning
- As needed, hiring, training, and managing supplemental facilitators to support with coursework
- Collecting participant input and make adjustments as a result of feedback
Teacher Development
- Leading multiple coaching cycles with all participants in the Texas Reading Academies
- Conducting in person observations of teachers on caseload and provide developmentally appropriate feedback.
- Conducting additional district-wide professional development for teachers and coaches aligned with Teacher Development initiatives.
- Aligning coaching practices to the YES Prep Instructional Strategy coaching practices.
- Building elementary expertise and content knowledge related to corresponding school level curricular resources.
- Developing teacher content knowledge and expertise of elementary YES Prep Curricular Resources that accelerate the teacher’s development as a content expert of his/her designated course(s).
District Cross Collaboration
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Meeting consistently with campus admin to align on campus priorities and support for teachers enrolled in Texas Reading Academies
- Collaborating with campus leadership consistently to develop coaching packages and determine appropriate supports for teachers enrolled in Texas Reading Academies
- Supporting campuses with additional requests or areas of support in ways that yield accelerated teacher growth and improved student achievement.
- Additional duties as assigned.

MUST HAVES
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Minimum 3 years of exemplary elementary teaching experience, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with diverse students
- A valid Texas Teaching Certificate or equivalent in an elementary specific certification area
- Ability to work outside normal hours and weekends (minimum 4 Saturdays a year)
- Ability to work elementary school hours
- Ability to pass a Science of Teaching Reading screening exam
- Demonstrated knowledge of Science of Teaching Reading
- Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building strong relationships.
- Demonstrated strength in time and task management.
- Demonstrated teacher leadership.

NICE TO HAVES
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Successful completion of Texas Reading Academies as a participant
- Experience with teacher supervision (as a department head, mentor, or coach)
- Experience teaching or implementing Yes Prep Elementary Curricular Resources (Wit and Wisdom, Fundations, and HMM Arriba la Lectura)
- Experience designing and facilitating professional learning experiences for adult learners.
- Master’s Degree
