Biobank Laboratory Technician

Job Purpose:
Execute the experimental plan in the Microbiology Laboratory, which involves cultivating, identifying, characterizing and storing microbial strains (cryostock) and working with both aerobic and anaerobic pure and mixed cultures.
Your Responsibilities:
- Handle the daily operations of the microbial biobank, including reception, registration, cryostock preparation and preservation, culture media preparation, and sample preparations for intra- and inter-site dispatch.
- Apply general microbiology techniques such as triple streaking, serial dilution, and optical microscopy observation.
- Conduct microbial cultures e.g. in petri dishes, broth cultures, multiwell plates etc.
- Conduct necessary calculations and enter results into the system.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments and samples.
- Basic molecular biology technics such as DNA extraction and PCR.
- Prepare samples for biological, chemical, and biochemical analysis.
- Experience with anaerobic strains cultures desired.
- Maintain and verify analysis equipment.
- Assist in developing and writing new protocols.
- Adhere to and work within SOPs and technical documentation applicable in BSL2 labs and in the company.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Demonstrate versatility and adaptability by working on multiple different topics as needed.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new methods and technologies.
- Maintain an electronic laboratory notebook describing experimental protocol and results.
- Organize and centralize requests for the purchase of laboratory materials as well as inventory managing.
- Support project research activities under the direction.
- Technician Diploma or Bachelor’s degree with 1-5 years of R&D experience in microbiology and molecular biology, strain development a plus.

- Additional Skills: Proficiency with computer tools (MS Office, Word, Excel, SAP).
