The British College of Gava, an IB World School, just 20 minutes outside of Barcelona is seeking to appoint a full-time teacher of Science for either an immediate or August 2025 start.


This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding purpose-built school with exceptional facilities and a great location. Science Teachers at BCG take lead in the schools Education for Sustainable Development Programme, teaching science at KS3, KS3 ESD and ESS at DP level.

The successful candidate will be a highly committed team player with the drive, energy and passion to develop this forward-looking school. Applicants must be willing to lead by example and play a full part in the school’s pastoral care with wider teacher responsibilities.



Key responsibilities:

• To prepare, provide and review class or subject based activities that maximize opportunities for student learning.
• To plan lessons by agreed deadlines in agreed formats and to ensure that copies of planning are available to interested parties.
• To show good subject knowledge and to share this with other staff when appropriate.
• To provide a stimulating ordered classroom environment where time and resources are used well.
• To respond promptly and constructively to pupils’ work.
• To involve students in the target setting process. To set homework that consolidates and extends classroom learning and that is based on individual need.
• To ensure the good behaviour of students and to develop within them positive attitudes towards peers, adults, property and schoolwork.
• To develop and maintain a good home-school partnership; to consult with and inform parents of the progress, attainment and attitudes of their children.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential:

• UK Trained with qualified teacher status
• Bachelor's Degree
• Secondary Education teaching experience
• Good knowledge and understanding of the English National Curriculum

Desirable:

• Knowledge of IB programmes
• Masters or post graduate qualification
• Right to work in the EU
