Role: Supply Chain and Operations Manager
Location: Johannesburg
How will you make a difference?
This role will be responsible for all regional operational performance metrics such as safety, quality, on-time delivery, and profitability of Wabtec’s Freight Services Products for both new and remanufacturing service business, serving key customers in Sub-Sharan African Region in the freight rail industry.
What will your typical day look like?
  • Drive cost, cycle, and inventory improvements to support sales and service reliability.
  • Align cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Manage key supplier relationships to align business performance with customer needs.
  • Support P&L budget attainment by managing costs and achieving target EBIT.
  • Lead monthly SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) cycles for effective communication and performance.
  • Develop and execute regional supply chain and remanufacturing strategies in line with global goals.
  • Build strong customer channels for inbound and outbound processes, including material management and returns.
  • Oversee part qualification, quality management, technical reviews, and engineering collaboration.
  • Plan and execute material fulfilment for local and global sources.
  • Champion localisation and sourcing activities per regional legislative requirements.
What do we want to know about you?
  • Degree in engineering, engineering management, supply chain management, program management, or related discipline.
  • Experience with heavy manufacturing operational repair and re-manufacturing of highly engineered industrialised products or equivalent.
  • Have experience in leadership roles including building, growing, and leading teams of highly skilled professionals both direct and indirect reports.
  • Ability to lead customer and supplier negotiations and interactions.
  • Qualified in Six Sigma or Theory of Constraints qualification.
