Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our growing dental practice in Durban North. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by providing exceptional support to the dentist and an excellent experience for our patients.
Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Assistance:
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following hygiene protocols.
• Assist the dentist during procedures, including handing instruments and materials as needed.
• Take and develop X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Mix and prepare materials for dental procedures (e.g., fillings, impressions).
• Patient Care:
• Welcome patients and prepare them for treatments, ensuring their comfort.
• Provide pre- and post-treatment instructions to patients.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and build a rapport to enhance the patient experience.
• Administrative Support:
• Schedule appointments and manage patient records.
• Process payments and coordinate with medical aid schemes, where applicable.
• Ensure all supplies are stocked and order inventory when necessary.
• Hygiene & Safety Compliance:
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of dental tools and treatment areas.
• Adhere to occupational health and safety protocols.

Qualifications & Skills

• Required:
• Completion of a Dental Assistant training program.
• Registration with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficiency in dental terminology and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and safety regulations.
• Preferred:
• Prior experience in a dental practice setting.
• Familiarity with dental software systems.
