School of Biological Sciences

(SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. Position Available: Research Associate, Microbiome & Bioinformatics

We are looking for a Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr Anni Zhang at SBS. This role focuses on a cutting-edge project, “Predicting DNA-Protein Binding to Enhance Bacteria-Based Cancer Therapy Safety and Efficacy.”

Key Responsibilities:

Collect and analyze bacterial sequencing data.
Design bioinformatics and statistical models to detect selective sweeps in the gut microbiome.
Provide guidance on other microbiome-related projects within the lab.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

A Master's degree in Quantitative Biology or a related field, with a focus on bioinformatics.
Strong communication skills in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
Experience in developing statistical models.
Strong background in microbiology and mathematics.
Personal attributes: patient, curious, cooperative, and meticulous.
