Legal Manager

Role Overview:
The Legal Manager oversees all legal functions within the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing risks, and providing strategic legal advice to support organizational goals. This includes drafting and negotiating contracts, handling disputes, and leading the legal team. The role also involves ensuring compliance with LTFRB regulations, managing corporate governance, and addressing legal matters in transportation and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure adherence to laws and regulations; update and implement policies to minimize risks.
  • LTFRB Compliance: Ensure adherence to LTFRB regulations by managing franchise applications, renewals, and updates. Represent the company in LTFRB proceedings and keep management informed on regulatory changes impacting the business.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts in alignment with company policies.
  • Dispute & Litigation Management: Handle disputes, oversee litigation, and coordinate with external counsel for effective resolution.
  • Strategic Advice: Provide legal guidance on business matters, regulatory compliance, and partnerships.
  • Risk Management: Identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the organization.
  • Corporate Governance: Support governance practices, prepare board meeting documents, and maintain compliance records.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the legal team to ensure effective performance and development.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and internal departments for legal alignment.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized legal records and ensure timely documentation of all legal matters.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed on legal trends and industry standards; take on additional legal tasks as required
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) required. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in a state bar.
  • Experience in corporate law, contract management, and litigation is essential.
  • Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in legal roles, including 3–5 years in a managerial position and at least 5 years of experience in legal practice with exposure to LTFRB-related matters.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics laws and regulations in the Philippines.
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong expertise in corporate law, contract law, labor law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Negotiation and Communication: Strong ability to negotiate contracts and effectively communicate complex legal matters to stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in managing teams, mentoring junior staff, and driving results.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
