Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services, which directly impacts the revenue cycle of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG systems.
• Prepare and submit claims for medical billing to insurance companies and patients.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues that may arise during the billing process.
• Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any information necessary for accurate coding and billing.
• Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and insurance policies to ensure compliance.
• Assist in the collection of payments from patients and insurance payers as needed.

Skills

• Proficient knowledge of medical coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and medical billing practices.
• Familiarity with medical office operations and procedures related to billing and collections.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills for reviewing medical records accurately.
• Ability to navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
• Experience in medical collection processes is a plus.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.72 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
