POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in the design and integration of the Electric Plant on a Government ship design program. Work closely with the Purchasing and Engineering Departments as well as with Project Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
- Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Serve as the focal point for all matters regarding the Electric Plant with the customer as well as within the project and with subcontractors, which are geographically located throughout the U.S. and abroad.
- Research and analysis functions may include project evaluation and monitoring.
- Produce and analyze calculations, maintain compliance with government regulations and perform any data analysis relevant to project tasks.
- Review electrical documents, diagrams and analysis.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure quality deliverables are submitted in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Assist in the production of detailed plans of action and deficiency reports to support the project objectives and schedules.
- Assist with construction planning support activities.
- Assist in the integration of the electrical engineering design in production and work closely with the shipyard’s electricians and craft superintendents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering plus one or more years’ Do D/DHS shipbuilding project experience desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Working knowledge of control systems, C4ISR systems, arrangement and cable routing. Experienced with Power Load Analysis, Voltage Drop Calculations, and Power/Lighting system One Line diagram development required. Experience with CDRL Development desired. Experience with ABS NVR highly desired.
Skills: Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience required. Strong working experience with Auto CAD required. Ability to produce and analyze calculations using the Easy Power software package. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, display an attention for detail, and function as a team player.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the environment is low to moderate, such as in an office environment.
