Introduction

Responsibilities

• Comply with department policies and procedures and ensure the same for other team members like technicians and intern
• Prepares compounds and dispenses drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies.
• Helps maintain pharmaceutical and supplies inventories, storing under proper storage conditions and security and maintain adequate inventory stocks and suggest changes in the par level to minimize drug shortage in pharmacy
• Review the physician order for accurate therapeutic dose, proper indication, drug interaction, contraindications, allergies and duplication of same class etc.
• Contact the physician for rectifying prescription order and do proper documentation
• Ensure timely delivery of medication to the nursing units or patient.
• Ensure the accuracy before dispensing for right patient, right drug and right quantity.
• Keep the pharmacy equipment in working order and area neat and clean.
• Provide drug and poison management information to healthcare staff and patients
• Timely refill running and accurately checking it with ensuring timely delivery
• Maintains strict control over distribution and usage of controlled drugs, such as narcotics.
• Monthly floor stock inspection for proper storage of drugs and near expiry drug replacement
• Provide training to trainee pharmacists and novice staff in pharmacy
• Accurate and timely completion of expiry drug list on monthly basis (current and 3 months).
• Provide patient counselling while OPD prescription dispensing and cash handling (outpatient)
• Processing of e-pharmacy orders and their dispensing (outpatient)
• Extemporaneous compounding, booking and preparation.
• Preparation of cytotoxic drug, TPN solution and ensure timely delivery. (if assigned)
• Preparation of bulk compounding and record keeping. (if assigned).
• Performs related work as and when required.
