Project Engineer

Wärtsilä Valmarine AS, located in Drammen, employs approximately 50 dedicated professionals. We are internationally renowned for our expertise in advanced Integrated Automation and Navigation Systems, serving both commercial and naval sectors. Our product:
Our alarm and control systems are designed to control, monitor, and analyze vessel devices and processes. The system comprises both software and hardware components, enabling data collection from field equipment both on-board and remotely. This capability allows our customers to manage energy savings, such as fuel consumption, in power plants and air conditioning systems.

We are now looking for a Project Engineer – Marine Automation

The location for the position is in Drammen,Norway.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Contributing to basic and detailed design efforts, both software and hardware
Development and implementation of application software and software templates
Creating project specific technical documentation
Discussing and communicating technical matters with internal and external stakeholders
Assist the Project Manager with project management tasks (i.e. status reporting) when requested/needed.
Performing commissioning of our project related products
Troubleshooting, fault-finding and correction of software and hardware onboard sailing vessels

Skills:

Understanding of large/complex automation systems
Experience with software design and software programming (PLC and/ or C++)
Experience with technical troubleshooting on a computer and electronic equipment
Experience in power management systems is an advantage
Experience with communication interfaces (serial and TCP/IP e.g. Modbus, IEC61850, NMEA, MQTT…) is an advantage
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Norwegian

Requirements:

BSc or MSc in Engineering (Automation, Cybernetics or similar fields)
Eager to learn and adapt. Positive attitude and strong team spirit, contributing effectively towards common project goals.
Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.
You must be able to obtain security clearance according to National Security Authority regulations
