PhD Fellow in Medical computer vision

The position at the Department of Physics and Technology is for a period of four years. The nominal length of the Ph D program is three years. The fourth year is distributed as 25 % each year and will consist of teaching and other duties. The objective of the position is to complete research training to the level of a doctoral degree. Admission to the Ph D program is a prerequisite for employment, and the program period starts on commencement of the position.
The workplace is at Ui T in Tromsø. You must be able to start in the position within a reasonable time after receiving the offer.
We're seeking a Ph D Fellow to take an active role in the group's research on developing novel medical computer vision methodologies with an application focus towards breast cancer screening. In particular, the position aims to leverage contextual information, such as previous screening examinations. More efficient approaches to fuse this information, which can also function in the presence of limited labeled data, will be investigated."
The position will be part of an already ongoing effort in Visual Intelligence and will synergize well with recent work in the Ui T Machine Learning Group.
The successful candidate will be a part of the Ui T Machine Learning Group and the Research Center Visual Intelligence.
- a good background in machine learning and medical imaging

- experience working with medical image data, preferably mammograms

As many people as possible should have the opportunity to undertake organized research training. If you already hold a Ph D or have equivalent competence, we will not appoint you to this position.
Admission normally requires:
- A bachelor's degree of 180 ECTS and a master's degree, or an integrated master's degree.
If you are employed in the position, you will be provisionally admitted to the Ph D programme. Application for final admission must be submitted no later than two months after taking up the position.
Applicants with a foreign education will be subjected to an evaluation of whether the educational background is equal to Norwegian higher education, following national guidelines from Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills. Depending on which country the education is from, one or two additional years of university education may be required to fulfil admission requirements, e.g. a 4-year bachelor's degree and a 2-year master's degree. Ui T normally accepts higher education from countries that are part of the Lisbon Recognition Convention.

Remuneration for the position of Ph D Fellow is in accordance with the State salary scale code 1017. A compulsory contribution of 2 % to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund will be deducted.
