We know that when Resident Doctors (RMOs) are well-supported in their training, education and employment they are better able to meet the diverse needs of their patients and contribute positively to the overall health and well-being of their communities.
Join our Resident Doctors Support Service (RDSS) team where you will have the opportunity to make a difference to the future medical workforce of Health NZ – our RMOs.
Our team is working to achieve the vision for our RMOs – “to support the efficient delivery of a well, well trained medical workforce for today and into the future”. Our small national team is supported with a strong network of local RMO units who deliver support services to the RMOs in our health system.
About the Role
The Stakeholder Lead will foster relationships with stakeholders to enhance the work experience, wellbeing and professional development of Resident Doctors (RMOs) as they enter and traverse their careers within the healthcare system. The Stakeholder Lead will actively support and contribute to the achievement of the vision for RMO support – “to support the efficient delivery of a well, well trained medical workforce for today and into the future”.
The role of the Stakeholder Lead is to be the one stop shop for external providers (e.g. Medical Council of NZ, Colleges including RNZCGP, Ministry of Health, Private Hospitals), working in partnership to ensure accreditation is maintained and training facilitated so Resident Doctors can continue to participate in and progress through training programmes, and services continue to be delivered.
Skills & Experience

• A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification.
• Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
• Experience developing options and provide advice, particularly in complex or contentious policy, specialist or technical projects
• Knowledge of the Resident Doctor or medical workforce environment, training and employment settings
• Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining and influencing mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships. Experience working in complex stakeholder engagement settings – minimum 7 years.

About you

• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
• Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
