N D J Limited is seeking one full-time pastrycook to join our progressive team in Wellington City. We are looking for an ideal candidate to contribute to our dynamic environment. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of $29.66 to $32.00 and consistent work hours ranging from 30 to 40 per week.
To be successful in this role, you need:

• Two years of work experience in kitchen with baking or patisserie, or a level 4 or above relevant qualification in baking or patisserie.
• Be fit enough to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Must be able to work on weekends and early morning shift.
• Must be flexible to work morning and afternoon shifts and be able to manage two shifts in a day.
• Full commitment is required.
• Be reliable, responsible, and good at time management.
• Be able to provide a police clearance certificate.

Key tasks & responsibilities:

• In charge of all day-to-day operations of the pastry section of the kitchen.
• Create unique ideas and desserts that pair with the menu.
• Checking the quality of materials and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
• Preparing and shaping dough and pastry goods through kneading, maturing, cutting, and moulding processes.
• Operating machines e.g. time, temperature, tray and mould settings for different products.
• Prepare, operate, manage and monitor the process of pastry with different techniques.
• Decorating pastries using different icings and toppings to ensure that the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
• Food cost and portion control.
• Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.
• Keeping abreast of the latest food and industry trends.
• Understand visitors' preferences and make suggestions based on findings if required.
• Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.
• General kitchen & equipment cleaning and hygiene duties.
