About the role
There are approximately 1400 births per year at Southland Hospital, Invercargill and a further 200 in the surrounding rural areas. Our department consists of a 14 room maternity unit with 4 birthing rooms, a level two 5 cot neonatal unit and a dedicated Women’s Health Unit. The service is supported by a team of experienced midwives, obstetrics, gynaecology and colposcopy nurses.
Our department is affiliated to the Dunedin School of Medicine University of Otago and has a strong focus on educational development with daily obstetric handover and weekly teaching sessions and we have recently achieved a four year accreditation for O&G training by RANZCOG.
About you
You will need to have a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. (RANZCOG) or equivalent qualification and must hold, or be eligible for, vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.

You will also need:

• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
• Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.

Salary range
This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between the Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 per annum pro rata)
