We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Canterbury Engineering team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and project management of various moving plant and static structures related to civil and roading works. Our Engineering workshop is a world leader in the design and build of Bitumen sprayers which is ultimately the core function of the engineering department. Some other core builds include, Roadmarking trucks, Traffic Management trucks, tippers and wide range of oddities.

In addition to the above you will:

Produce as-built drawings and revise and improve old designs.
Put together work packages for builds and ordering packages/lists for externally supplied components.
Project manage builds, including cost tracking.
Perform FE analyses or manual calculation to verify designs.
Design pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Diagnose faults in mechanical systems and advise repair methodologies.
Work in with third party verifiers for a range of certification criteria.

We’re looking for someone with:

New Zealand Diploma or Bachelor in Engineering NZDE or BEng(Tech)
Project management experience will be advantageous
A passion for solving problems
Highly Competent in producing, reading and interpreting engineering drawings
A keen interest to learn about moving plant related to civil and roading works
Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 is advantageous)
Strong computer skills and proficiency in the MS suite
A proactive approach to Health and Safety - it’s our #1 priority
Good Interpersonal and communication skills
A positive can-do attitude, and most importantly, a good sense of humour
