About the role
This role will involve providing psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions, and support for adults experiencing a range of psychological conditions. You will work alongside a team of dedicated healthcare professionals to offer care tailored to each individual - s needs, using both individual and group therapy approaches.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Nelson-based Adult Psychiatric Clinics provide comprehensive mental health services, dedicated to improving the well-being and quality of life of adults in our community. We are a multi-disciplinary team working collaboratively to deliver high-quality psychological and psychiatric care, utilising evidence-based practices. Our clinic offers a supportive environment with access to extensive resources, including specialised training opportunities, professional development programs.
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist or Registered Psychologist with at least two years post-registration experience within an acute mental health setting.
About you:
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and develop individualised treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions for adults with psychological conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and other complex mental health issues.
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals in the planning and delivery of treatment.
- Document assessments, interventions, and progress reports in accordance with clinic policies.
- Participate in case discussions, interdisciplinary team meetings, and community outreach initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will:
- Have current registration with the NZ Psychologists Board under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act (2003), hold a current Annual Practising Certificate and have appropriate experience and competency.
- Be passionate about providing proven experience in adult mental health services, preferably within a community or clinical setting with strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and commitment to ethical practices and cultural sensitivity in line with community needs.
- Have up-to-date knowledge of current research findings relating to major mental health issues and trends, and psychological interventions.
- Be an active participant in our multidisciplinary team and will be the type of person who fits into a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines. You will engender confidence, trust and rapport with clients, their support networks and other agencies and service providers.
- Be competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Have experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
