About you and this role
We have an exciting and challenging opportunity to become an Electrical Improvement Manager based in Terneuzen, Netherlands!
This role provides an excellent opportunity for growth in project management or continuous improvement. You will be working in the P&U (Power & Utilities) plant, which is part of the Energy & Climate business.
The purpose of this job is to ensure that plant-level improvement opportunities aligned with site and business strategy are identified and implemented timely and effectively. In addition to executing improvement projects in support of the business technology plan, you will become a key member of the plant team and contribute to a safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This includes to act as a Manufacturing Representative and Project Manager in several small and intermediate projects, but also on potential large project opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to lead the continuous improvement work process to develop and implement Plant Specific Technology Plans in alignment with the Global Technology Plan including data collection, gap analysis, idea generation, prioritization, improvement project implementation, and review of results.
  • Leads the prioritization and implementation of all plant improvement opportunities for the energy business in Terneuzen.
  • Articulates business cases for capital and non-capital opportunities together with the Energy triangle team and collaborating with Finance.
  • Partners with the Plant and Operations leaders to solicit and collect ideas, describe opportunities, coordinates engineering support and implement projects.
  • Interfaces with the business and participating in business plan technology development.
  • Responsible together with the Improvement Leader to define the Site Strategy for the Electrical infrastructure.
  • Meets global business goals through optimization of the process technology, implementation of improvement projects and implementation of Most Effective Technology (MET). Next to that works with the technology center to set priorities for MET definition needs.
  • Enhance Reliability: Execute electrical reliability reviews, support reliability deep drills, and develop onsite strategic plans after agreeing on scope/prioritization with the Energy Tech Center.
  • Is part of the on-call team for the P&U in Terneuzen.
  • Project implementation represents most of the expected workload for this role. You fulfill your role as specified in Dow Global Project Methodology (GPM), in most cases as Manufacturing Representative.

Manufacturing Representative
Plans, directs, and leads the efforts of the project team using GPM and Manufacturing Representative Work Process Discipline to ensure that the project objectives are met while also providing for the following:
  • Review the complete design and construction of the project to ensure that the facilities and equipment designed and built according to plans.
  • Implementation of Most Effective Technology (MET), or other suitable process technology, as supported by the Global Technology Center.
  • Safe and effective start-up and operation of projects.
  • Implementation of the correct operating discipline.
  • Ensures validation of project performance objectives after implementation Problem solving g/troubleshooting ability.
  • Training of staff and operations as required for safe and effective operation.

  • Project Management: The ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects is essential. This includes skills in project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data collection, gap analysis, and performance evaluation is important. This involves analyzing data to identify improvement opportunities and measure the effectiveness of implemented solution
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills are necessary to address and resolve technical issues that arise during projects. This includes troubleshooting and developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills are vital for collaborating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, IT, and customer service departments. This also involves articulating business cases and coordinating engineering support.
  • Leadership and Team Management: The ability to lead and motivate a team is important. This includes providing direction, setting goals, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: A focus on continuous improvement and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements are key. This involves staying updated with the latest technologies and best practices in the field.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, as well as maintaining a strong focus on safety, is critical. This includes driving electrical compliance and supporting sustainability goals.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related.
  • Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience as an Improvement, Process or Production Engineer.
  • Fluency in Dutch or a willingness to learn.
