The Team You Will Join
This position will be joining a European Legal team consisting of c.28 people across 12 countries. As a member of the regional European Legal team you will be providing support and guidance directly to the Head of Legal for Met Life Europe.

Met Life Ireland which is located in both Dublin and Galway City Centres. Dublin is our Operational Headquarters for our Europe Region. In addition, both Dublin and Galway have a significant number of our colleagues that are focused on supporting our broader EMEA and Global functions. They are homes to our Actuarial, Audit, Compliance, Finance, IT, Legal, Operations, Risk and Treasury Teams.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Provision of accurate, prompt and relevant legal advice counsel to internal business stakeholders across a wide range of legal matters including commercial contracts, commercial transactions and legal developments.
- Supporting Met Life Europe’s success in achieving its objectives.
- Minimise exposure to legal risk, including the identification, management and reporting of activities or transactions that could expose Met Life Europe to material legal risks.
- Provide direction, leadership and advice in relation to legal matters for cross functional projects and business initiatives including but not limited to new business opportunities (including M&A and procurement activities), outsourcing, reorganisations and data privacy.
- Develop innovative and value-adding solutions to assist business stakeholders in optimising their use of legal resources.
- Monitoring relevant industry and market developments in relation to advances and best practices.
- Develop effective and collaborative working relationships across Met Life Europe and the wider Met Life group.
- Work with the wider Met Life group`s legal function in order to maximise efficiencies.
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 7 years relevant post qualification experience in private or in-house practice (Irish qualified Solicitor or Barrister preferred).
- Proven background of building collaborative partnerships and maintaining internal and external stakeholder trust and confidence with outstanding communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and utilisation of these skills in advising / influencing senior level executives and team members at a local and at a wider group level.
- General corporate and contract experience.
- Technical skills in advising on, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and transactions.
- Proven track record working in, or advising, companies about corporate law issues.
- Experience in, and/or advising, a multi-national and cross border insurance or financial services company is a distinct advantage.
- Knowledge of Irish company law/insurance and regulatory law preferable.
- Experience advising on the Irish or EU Environmental Social Governance legal framework is helpful.
- Commercially minded, solutions driven and delivery focused, with the ability to work as a team member, both within the legal department and with business colleagues.
- Strong corporate governance skills.
- Ability to work independently without overly granular supervision and to learn quickly, think analytically, problem solve and ask the right questions.
- Strong influencing skills and excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, to convey complicated information in clear, accurate and concise terms.
