IT Security and Vulnerability Management - Internship

This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

This internship offers hands-on experience in IT security and an opportunity to develop skills in strategic planning, collaboration, and vulnerability management.
Start Date: January 2025 or later (~ 8 month)
Location: Galway, Ireland
Mandatory Requirements: Enrolled in an University during the internship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation Development: Assist in creating detailed and user-friendly runbooks to document operational procedures, troubleshooting steps, and incident response protocols. These guides will help ensure consistent and effective responses to security incidents.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and stakeholders to gather insights about the current state of the IT Vulnerability team. Help identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Strategic Planning Support: Contribute to the development of a roadmap and actionable plans based on collected information, aligning with the organization’s overall security strategy and objectives.
- Vulnerability Management Optimization: Collaborate with the IT Vulnerability team to refine current processes for identifying, assessing, and mitigating vulnerabilities, incorporating best practices.
- Risk Assessment and Incident Response: Support the incident response team in reviewing and updating procedures to ensure effective and timely responses to security threats.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Computer Science or a related field
- First experience with IT security concepts, vulnerability management, or incident response through coursework would be a plus.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in creating technical documentation.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Interest in developing strategic security solutions and learning how to transition teams toward future-state goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
