Location: Cedar Drive, Dublin Airport Logistics Park, St. Margaret’s, Co.Dublin
Scope of Role
- Develop and implement business strategy, aligning with the commercial team to meet growth targets and manage key customer relationships. Build and maintain a pipeline of High Value customer target accounts, targeting a number of personal customer targets.
- Implement country-level ocean freight procurement and capacity management strategies, providing commercially viable solutions to enhance market position and financial growth.
- Oversee team governance, roles, responsibilities, and resource development.
- Drive ocean freight performance to meet financial and operational targets, ensuring customer service and productivity standards.
- Develop relationships with key Network Management.
- Develop and coach ocean freight team for maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate operational tasks, ensuring alignment with IT/Business Process functions.
Mon-Fri 09.00 – 17.30, or such hours as are deemed necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role
Key Accountabilities
Product:
- Develop and implement the Ocean Freight strategy, translating requirements, ensuring realization, and monitoring progress.
- Oversee FCL and LCL capacity management at country level, ensuring adherence to global rates.
- Set, communicate, and monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement in capacity management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with service providers.
- Manage Ocean Freight P&L, focusing on budget targets, profitability, and cost control.
- Escalate carrier performance issues to local and regional teams as required
- Direct country-level pricing activities and supervise new product implementation.
- Collaborate with regional and cluster leaders to align Ocean Freight operations with broader strategies.
- Align with and support commercial team with solution design, customer visits and manage cross-department communication to meet targets.
- Work with Finance to ensure financial performance meets budgetary requirements.
- Liaise with regional teams for support in achieving country and regional objectives.
- Manage and approve risk processes in line with regional and global guidelines.
- Set and monitor growth strategies to meet budgetary targets for Ocean products.
- Ensure compliance with DGF guidelines on forecasting, capacity management, and global contracts.
- Manage local procurement needs and oversee spot quotes and consolidation opportunities.
- Act as the country escalation point for pricing and procurement issues.
- Oversee all in-country Ocean Freight activities, ensuring KPI achievement and improvement.
- Ensure completion of pre and post month-end procedures to minimize financial impact on country P&L and embed new business activities within operations per BPM processes, escalating to BPM Head as needed.
- Provide direction on supplier selection, pricing, procurement, and tender management, while managing relationships with overseas stations for effective IE business.
- Serve as country escalation point for operational issues and ensure compliance with GDP standards, revenue, international trade laws, and DGF IE policies, supporting the company's environmental program.
- Approve or reject non-conforming freight and containers.
- Define, implement, and enforce Thermonet services and GDP standards, including LSHC targets.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on DHL Ocean Thermonet activities and results.
- Involvement in hiring and selection of station contacts for Thermonet and ensure effective recruitment, training, and motivation of staff.
- Conduct regular reviews of quality control procedures, Arial impacting Thermonet processes.
- Serve as the escalation point for Thermonet issues and support sales with Thermonet-specific knowledge.
Lead, develop and manage a team to achieve company objectives, fostering high performance, trust, and collaboration.

Identify and fulfil training needs, maintain training plans, and keep accurate training records.
Skills / Qualifications
Expected years of experience
(Minimum)
- Extensive knowledge of Ocean Freight business, international trade regulations, and supply chain management.
- Experience in developing and implementing Ocean Freight strategies to drive growth and meet budget targets.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lead board-level meetings and presentations.
- Working knowledge of logistics information systems.
- Proven track record in people management role (leadership, motivation and people skills)
- Demonstrates strong communication capabilities.
- Easily capable of making well informed decisions.
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Excellent MS Office skills
- Full current driving license
