Who are we looking for?
Uni Haven, part of On Campus portfolio for foundation teaching centres, is recruiting an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) professional to teach the Uni Haven College QQI Level 5 Specific Purpose Certificate in International Foundation Studies Programme.
With appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and academic skills in a higher education context, the successful applicant will contribute to the teaching and learning of students within Uni Haven. with the ultimate goal of securing success for all students, to Achieve More, progressing onto their chosen degree course at the Higher Education/University partner. The following outline of roles and responsibilities may be adjusted according to the needs of the centre and time of the year.
The appointed candidate will teach and assess the required modules on the programme; participate in all College boards and committees as requested and support students in their learning journey at the college.
Key aspects we require for our EAP Teachers at Uni Haven:
  • Degree qualified at NFQ level 8 minimum (essential).
  • Recognised TEFL certification (CELTA, Trinity TESOL or QQI Certificate in Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) - NFQ Level 7 (Special Purpose Award)) (essential).
  • MA TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related discipline.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Experience in teaching, assessment and learning support (essential).
  • English teaching experience – 3 years minimum (essential).
  • Experience and expertise in programme development.
  • Demonstrate cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
  • A commitment to teamwork, and an ability to manage resources effectively, both human and physical.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills including native speaker fluency in English.
  • Competence in the effective use of Information Communications Technologies (ICT).
  • Planning and organisational skills and an ability to take initiative within the curriculum objectives.
The role is on a full-time, permanent basis, with location in Maynooth, Ireland.
